Old-Fashioned Plaque

What You’ll Need:

• scissors
• plastic-foam tray
• pencil
• black or brown poster paint
• paper towels
• glue
• rope or shells
• tape
• yarn

How to Make It:

1. Cover your work area. Cut off the curved edges of a plastic-foam tray.

2. Draw a design on the tray with a pencil, pressing hard enough to make grooves.

3. Brush black or brown poster paint over part of the design. Be sure the paint goes into the grooves.

4. With a paper towel, wipe the paint from the surface, leaving the paint only in the grooves.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the grooves in the design are filled with paint. Let it dry.

6. To make a frame, glue rope or shells around the design. Tape on a yarn hanger.
